Howdy!
I recently spoke at the North American Repossessors Summit (NARS) and I couldn’t be more excited about what I see happening in the automobile repossession industry. The next generation of auto repossessors and skip tracers were in full force at NARS 2014. There were young people everywhere, the energy was great, there was real momentum towards co-opetition, Automatic License Plate Recognition (ALPR) was one of the hot topics. (more…)
This month’s Member Highlight is Ian Eusebio, son of Michael Eusebio from DigitalDog Auto Recovery in El Dorado Hills, California. Ian is currently a junior at his local high school in El Dorado Hills with future plans of attending a 4-year college to major in engineering or computer science. This interest came about when he decided to join a district robotics club called Circuit Breakers. After being in the club for 3 years, his passion for robotics and engineering has greatly increased. The 6th Annual North American Repossessors Summit showed much success this year with empowering speakers and dynamic discussions revolving around the importance of standing together to revive industry standards. We are excited to announce our recent partnership with Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company. This new partnership will enable all ARA members to go directly to the association’s website and purchase tires at a substantially discounted cost. By utilizing the members-only resource page, members will be able to choose and pay for tires and services, and then go to any local Goodyear store that handles national accounts to have their tires installed. The program will start with tires and related services, such as mounting and balancing, and will then expand to include roadside service, batteries and other automotive products.
“This is one of the most dynamic offerings any association has consummated, and we think this is a game-changing relationship for our members,” said Les McCook, Executive Director of ARA. “We appreciate the efforts of the Goodyear team that helped us overcome the hurdles to make this a reality.”
In addition to the recently announced WEX integration to get ARA members a bottom-line savings on their fuel purchases, the association has successfully addressed two of the largest hard costs in our members’ businesses. I know I’m not the only one asking, “Where did the passion go?” Not to sound like a grumpy old man here, but it was not too long ago that a person got up each morning with one desire: to be the best in their chosen profession. We woke up each morning and did what it took. We worked long hours, studied, read anything we could get our hands on to figure out how to do the job better. We went to seminars, took notes, networked with our peers and shared information in an effort to reach our pinnacle of success. (more…)
We are excited to announce that Michael Dougherty, the Managing Partner of Weltman, Weinberg, & Reis Co., LPA, will keynote NARS 2014. He has dealt with the CFPB directly and understands how repossession agents are also directly affected by the new compliance standards.
As a previous speaker at the 2012 summit, Dougherty discussed how the CFPB would soon impact and change the recovery industry. This year, he will expand on the realities of what has actually happened and what this means for recovery agents. His presentation will outline his experiences in dealing with recovery agents who have not been compliant, as well as the consequences associated with it. With Dougherty’s thorough knowledge of compliance, this is sure to be a very engaging and dynamic discussion on the past, present and future impact on the new compliance standards within the repossession industry.
