We are proud to announce that Helen Godfrey-Smith, president and chief executive office of Shreveport Federal Credit Union, will keynote this year’s ARA Convention.
Helen Godfrey-Smith grew up in Jefferson, TX and attended Huston Tillotson College in Austin, TX where she graduated with degrees in Chemistry and Math. Godfrey-Smith is the president and chief executive officer of Shreveport Federal Credit Union, a community development financial institution that serves the needs of small business owners.
Godfrey-Smith’s achievements and successes have landed her many awards and honors including the Credit Union Times National Credit Union Trailblazer Award, the National Annie Vamper “Helping Hands” Award and the Pete Crear Lifetime Achievement Award given by the African American Credit Union Coalition. In addition, she is a founding member and board member of the African American Credit Union Coalition, an organization made up of credit union executives from all over the United States. Godfrey-Smith also serves on the Consumer Financial Protection Board’s Credit Union Advisory Council and as chair of the Legal Committee for the Caddo Levee Board.
