ARA Letter from Vaughn

Dear ARA Members,

When I became your President, I’ll be the first to admit it wasn’t a role I fully understood, nor one I actively sought. As a true introvert, I’ve always been more comfortable in the back of the room, quietly listening and observing.

But leadership has a way of finding you—when you least expect it, and when you’re most needed.

What I’ve come to understand is that many didn’t know me and assumed I’d simply fall in line and rubber-stamp the old ways of doing things.

I did not.

At that time, ARA was operating in an outdated state—stuck in a cycle of “business as usual.” My first year was marked by internal conflict: a struggle between holding on to the past and stepping into the future. I chose to lean into the hard work. And what followed has been one of the most meaningful and impactful seasons of change this association has ever seen.

But change doesn’t come without sacrifice.

This role—and the work it demands—has cost many of us personally. We’ve given our time, our resources, and in some cases, even our clients. None of us are paid. None of us are reimbursed. We show up, over and over again, because we believe in you. We believe in this industry.

And because of that shared commitment, we’ve made progress—lots of progress, as you can see in a list of accomplishments below.

📌 IMPORTANT – YOUR VOTE MATTERS
